"I wanted the help," said Barnes, 60. "But I couldn't get anybody to help me."
That's when a doctor suggested a small clinic in south Phoenix run by St. Vincent de Paul. The medical and dental clinic has served as a critical link in thecommunity's health-care safety net for more than three decades, taking care of people regardless of their ability to pay or immigration status.
With your gracious support we can have the ability to eventually accomplish similar ministries along our Gulf Coast. Thank You!
Members of St.Vincent de Paul (or "Vincentians" ) are men and women who strive to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to individuals in need. We are Volunteers serving the sick, the elderly, the poor, those in-need, and the homeless. Our St. Maximilian Kolbe Conference is a charitable 501(c)3 non-profit "Special Works" Conference of St. Vincent de Paul. We are young and old, men, women, and families. With our SVDP Youth Program, we engage with youth, helping them to experience their faith in their communities. Our members come in every shade of skin color. Some are wealthy, some are financially poor, but all of us are blessed with an awareness that our blessings (time, talent or treasure) are to be shared with our brothers and sisters in need.
"Vincentians see the face of Christ in those we serve"
We know that we are not alone. We are part of an international society of friends united by a spirit of poverty, humility, and sharing, which is nourished by prayer and reflection, mutually supportive gatherings, and adherence to a basic Rule of conduct.
Energized by the awareness that service to our brothers or sisters in need is in fact an encounter with our Lord Jesus Christ. Members of St. Vincent de Paul are keenly aware that poverty, suffering and loneliness are present for millions in our communities. For that reason, we collaborate with all who seek to relieve poverty and address its causes.
St. Vincent de Paul offers tangible assistance to those in need on a person-to-person basis. It is this personalized involvement that makes the work of the Society so unique. This aid may take the form of intervention, consultation, or often through direct dollar or in-kind service. An essential precept of our work is to provide help while conscientiously maintaining the confidentiality and dignity of those who are served. St. Vincent de Paul recognizes that it must assume, also, a role of advocacy for those who are defenseless or voiceless. We champion justice for those we serve. More than 5 million persons are helped annually by Vincentians in the United States. There are over 4500 Vincentians in the United States.
The list of services of St. Vincent de Paul in the United States is endless. No work of charity is foreign to St. Vincent de Paul. To quote our patron, St. Vincent de Paul: "Charity is infinitely inventive."
